Lijiang Ancient Town, Yibin, Sichuan, China
Dishes
The white meat is excellent due to its thin slices, distinct layers of fat and lean meat, and fresh quality; it is highly recommended. The yellow rice cake is also good. However, the red braised yellow spicy fish has a fishy smell and isn't deeply flavored, and the toutun dish can be greasy with a fishy taste. The douhua (tofu pudding) is firm, leaning towards a tofu texture rather than a silky pudding.
Service
Excellent. Staff are well-trained and speak Mandarin to all customers. They are also considerate, giving away less-than-perfect meat cuts to avoid negative customer feedback.
Precautions
The displayed sliced meat is mainly for show; the actual meat served is from the kitchen.
The red braised yellow spicy fish may have a fishy smell and might not be fully flavored because it's cooked whole.
The tofu pudding (douhua) might be firmer than expected, more like tofu.
The toutun dish can be greasy and might have a fishy taste.
The dipping sauce for the tofu pudding is quite salty on its own, so use it sparingly.
